What's our style? What's yours? Why it really matters!

You see the little looks our couples give each other, they’re lovely aren’t they.  The cheeky little glances, the intimate smiles, the stolen peck on the cheek... They look very natural in our films, and that’s because they are. They are 100% real and authentic interactions and that’s what we live for.

There’s a reason we don’t have the same shots in every film of couples looking directly down the camera lens, it’s because we don’t ask them to. Could we? Sure, but for us it’s not our style as it’s just not a natural thing to do (unless you work in TV of course, but I bet even TV stars need a break from the constant directions!). If we get the occasional moody look down the lens, then it's because they wanted to, and not because they were told to (Johnny, we’re looking at you x ).

So gentle guidance of where to stand for the most flattering light, where to walk and chat (and don’t forget to hold hands!), maybe even which direction to look… and that’s it. No big production, no barked directions, and definitely no-one ever shouting "Action"! Just natural real, and authentic…choose your own adjective, that’s exactly what we do.

Our style is not for everyone, and that's why we ask the question up top, what's our style? and what's yours?

You may prefer a crazy high-tempo Tik-Tok reel and be happy with that 60 second portrait reel as the memorable film from your wedding day, and that’s the beauty of the wedding industry as there’ll be someone out there that can do that for you. However that’s not us.  We're about far more than just that flashy 60 seconds.

We prefer, natural, authentic and real films with a sense of fun. Films that tell the genuine story of your wedding day, and a story told beautifully.

Experience counts.

The thing is, we have a many years of experience of knowing when to anticipate things happening.  It’s not just reacting to things going on (or worse, staging them and having to make them happen!) it’s having an inkling that they’re about to happen and that only comes with knowing weddings inside and out.  It’s why we don't feel the need to stage anything, we just know exactly where to look to find the “good stuff”. We’re aware, we’re attentive and we’re always looking for those lovely moments.  We’re not just working from a shotlist, we approach every wedding as an open book ready for the story to unfold in front of us. We always have a great deal of backstory info, and already know the kinds of things you are looking for, and what/who is important to you to capture, but the rest is down to our skill and experience in capturing the day in an authentic way, as it happens.  

Timeless films.

The next part is then transforming that footage with our editing and post-production skills into a bespoke and timeless wedding story.  That’s the best part, as all that footage can take any number of directions in terms of pacing, style, narrative etc, blending romance, fun, laughter and (happy) tears.  To start with a blank timeline and end with a bespoke wedding film is a huge sense of achievement, and ultimately what we do this for.  The ultimate reward for us is that first email back from the couple after watching their film for the first time…. Telling us we’ve nailed it, and how delighted they are. That’s the best bit, the modest fist bump knowing we have another delighted couple.

As for the films themselves, we’ve got a huge selection of film options, including Insta reels, Trailers, Highlights Films, and main wedding films ranging from 5 minutes to 25 minutes, but if you have any other requests then we’re always happy to work with them, as we are truly bespoke and can tailor things to exactly what you want. We'll talk more about the options in a future post.
