5 things to consider when choosing a Wedding Videographer in Scotland
Make the right choice for you!
Now don’t get us wrong, we love our highlights, trailers and reels but they are always the very best bits of each wedding. Have you ever watched a movie trailer, got super excited, only to find out the full film was rubbish? The same applies here. Before you make a huge investment make sure you know exactly what you’re getting by asking to see a full finished film, don’t book based on seeing a super flashy 60second reel. Only then can you really get to see what yours may be like, and you’ll be confident you’ve made the right decision.
1. Always ask to see a full film.
We treat every wedding individually. If you see a bunch of the same shots used time and time again it's a sure sign that a set shotlist or template is being used. We don’t use templates as we approach every wedding as a blank canvas, ready to film what really happens and build a film telling your individual story. You not only get to see everything that happened on your wedding day, but you get to feel it too!
2. Look for repeated shots.
We worked out many years ago that super long-form films (45mins +) means you just end up fast forwarding sections of the ceremony or speeches. Instead we use carefully selected soundbites from those parts of the day and use them to drive the narrative of your wedding story. We do of course still offer to give you full edits of the ceremony & speeches as standalone films, so they are preserved if you want them, the best of both worlds. 3. Shorter is better. But not too short.
We’ve won multiple awards over the years and a number of them rewarding our exceptional customer service. This comes from the fact that we strictly limit the number of wedding commissions we take on each year, and as such can treat every couple as individuals. It’s not about numbers or volume for us. We’re here every step of the way, to talk and listen, to get to know you a little and to find out exactly what you’re looking for, with us you’ll actually enjoy the whole process. We expect good service when we approach professionals so we demand the same of ourselves. As a side note, do make sure you know who will be filming. Cherry Tree Films is just us, Yvonne & Steve, no third party cameramen or editors, and we keep it that way as your memories are too important to trust to a ‘pool’ videographer! Reputation is everything to us and there’s a very good reason ours is unmatched.
4. Customer service is more important than you think.
Do take everything into consideration before booking your wedding film company. Cost is of course an important factor, so do remember when setting your budgets that your film and photographs will be the only things you have to remember the day with, apart from the lovely memories of your own. A well crafted timeless wedding film can be a wonderful keepsake for any family, invest wisely.
